My Robin Friend

This isn't a very good photo, but I just needed to say a few words about the robin I met today during my walk.

I was sheltering under a tree from the rain when this little guy swooped over and perched himself onto the bin next to me. I stared at him for a while, and he stared back until fluttering down to my feet. I crouched down, inches away from him, and then whistled him a little tune that my dad sometimes whistles to blackbirds*. And he gave a little chirp back. We had a little two-second duet before he fluttered away. It was still raining so I stayed under the tree, and about a minute later he returned. We had another brief whistle/chirp conversation, and then he left. By now two bluetits were fluttering back and forth between the tree I was standing under and the bushes in front of me, and two squirrels were edging closer. The robin flew away as one squirrel scampered right up to me, and probably would've come even closer had I not shoved a huge camera lens into his face to take photos (by the way, the photos I took of him were dull and not worthy of DeviantART) I watched as the two squirrels chased each other up a tree, and then a loud chirp broke my concentration. I turned around and the robin was standing right behind me. I'll be honest, I'm almost certain that he chirped to get my attention. He stayed with me for a bit, and then flew away again as two crows swooped over. The rain had stopped so, whistling one last tune to my robin friend, I left.

I was there for a good thirty minutes or so. It was amazing - I felt like Snow White and was expecting a few rabbits and deer to come stampeding after me.

*Luckily this spot was quiet, otherwise I would've had many strange stares from those passing by.
